Everything You Need to Know About the New iPad Pro

After being rumored for a while now, Apple has unveiled the new iPad Pro featuring the company’s ultra-powerful M2 silicone chip. According to Apple, the M2 Chip is up to 15% faster than the M1 chip thanks to the 8-core CPU. It became available for pre-order on October 18 and will be available in stores on October 26.

With WiFi 6E capability, the tablet will also provide quicker connectivity. It also includes a new “hover” experience for the Apple Pencil. Other highlights include iPadOS 16, which delivers a new Stage Manager feature for improved multitasking.

For Wi-Fi + Cellular models, the 11-inch iPad Pro starts at $999. And the 12-inch Wi-Fi + Cellular model starts at $1,299.

iPad Pro Design and Display

The iPad Pro M2 series has the exact same appearance as its predecessors, but regrettably, only the 12.9-inch model is available with a mini-LED display.

You’ll receive the same lightweight designs and slim display borders. The 12.9-inch weighs 1.51 pounds, compared to the 11-inch model’s 1.04 pounds.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro M2 has a Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2732 x 2048 and a 2D backlighting technology with 2596 full-array local dimming zones, while the 11-inch iPad Pro M2 has a Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2388 x 1668.

ProMotion technology is still supported by both iPad Pro models.

iPad Pro Cameras

The cameras haven’t changed significantly, however, the 2022 iPad Pro models feature smart HDR 4, whereas only smart HDR 3 was available in 2021.

iPad Pro Apple Pencil Hover Experience

A new function that utilizes the Apple Pencil is called Hover (2nd generation). Users can see a preview of the mark they are about to make before they make it thanks to the Apple Pencil’s ability to identify it while it is 12mm above the display. Apps from third parties will be able to use the feature. Only the iPad Pro devices from 2022 are compatible with Apple Pencil Hover.

iPad Pro ProRes

The 2022 iPad Pro will be able to enable ProRes video capture and transcoding at up to three times faster speeds thanks to the M2 and the upgraded cameras. ProRes videos could not be recorded on earlier models.

Up to 4K at 30 fps can be captured with ProRes video (1080p at 30 fps for 128GB capacity).

Apple claims that the iPad Pro should be perfect for content makers to utilize for recording, editing, and releasing cinema-quality video while on the go thanks to the ProRes encode and decode engine.

A staggering number of professional iPad programs, such as Adobe Photoshop and others, are enhanced by M2’s ground-breaking performance.

iPad Pro M2 Wi-Fi 6E and 5G

Apple said that Wi-Fi 6E is supported by the iPad Pro 2022. Apple claims that download speeds are up to 2.4Gb/s, which is twice as fast as the previous model.

Choose an iPad with Wi-Fi + Cellular capability and 5G if you need to use it while you’re out and about (sub-6GHz and mmWave4). With a strong enough connection, this should make it simple to use your tablet practically anyplace you go.

Outlook

Overall, the new iPad Pros with the silicon M2 chip from Apple seem to be extremely powerful machines that are perfect for content creators. As soon as we get them in stock, the new iPad Pros will be available for rent from eTech here.
